Running a business all by yourself is a lot.
You’re the boss.
You’re the worker.
You’re the planner, cleaner, accountant, and coffee-maker.
And now… you’re supposed to be a marketer too?
Hold up. What even is marketing?
Let’s break it down together.
First: What is Marketing?
Marketing just means telling people about your business in a way that makes them want to buy from you.
That’s it.
It’s like saying: “Hey! I have something cool that helps people. Want to check it out?”
Marketing is how people learn you exist. It’s how they remember you. It’s what makes them trust you and want to come back.
Okay, But How Do I Market My Business?
You don’t need a fancy degree.
You don’t need to spend a ton of money.
You just need a few smart, simple moves.
Here are 3 easy hacks to get you started:
Hack #1. Show Your Face (Even If It Feels Weird)
People buy from people.
Not logos. Not robots. Real people.
Post a picture of yourself.
Share a behind-the-scenes look.
Talk about why you started your business.
Example: “I started baking cookies because my grandma taught me how when I was little. Now I get to share that joy with you!”
That kind of post? It works. It helps people connect with you. It builds trust. (And trust = sales.)
Hack #2. Pick ONE Place to Show Up Regularly
You don’t have to be on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, Pinterest, and YouTube all at once. That’s exhausting.
Pick one. The one your people use most.
(Ask them! Or look where you get the most likes or comments.)
Post there consistently — like 2-3 times a week.
You can talk about:
- What you sell
- Why it helps people
- Questions you get a lot
- A happy customer story
- Something funny that happened
You don’t have to be perfect — just be real.
Hack #3. Use Free Tools to Make Life Easier
You don’t have to do everything by hand.
Here are some easy (and free!) helpers:
- Canva.com – to make cute posts and flyers
- CapCut – to make short videos for social media
- Google Business Profile – to show up on maps when people search for you
Set aside one hour a week to create or schedule a few posts.
That’s it! You’re marketing.
Bonus Hack: Ask for Help!
You don’t have to figure it all out alone.
At The Biz Foundry, we help people like you learn how to grow your business step by step. We have workshops, coworking space, and real people who can answer your questions (without making you feel dumb).
You’ve Got This!
Marketing doesn’t have to be scary.
It’s just sharing what you do, little by little, with the people who need it.
Start small. Stay real. And don’t be afraid to ask for help.
